Everything you could possibly want to know about…

Table Tennis Robots

A table tennis robot is a really useful training aid, especially if you have your own table at home. But table tennis robots come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes (and prices). It can be extremely difficult to decide which one to buy. But don’t panic… you’ve come to the right place!

In our opinion, these are…

The Best Table Tennis Robots

Table tennis robots range massively in price from over $2,000, for a top-of-the-range machine, all the way down to under $100, for something very basic.

Let’s have a look at some of the best table tennis robots currently available. In particular, we’ll focus on the most popular brands such as; Butterfly Amicus, Power Pong, Newgy Robo-Pong, and iPong.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

#1: Power Pong Omega

Attila Malek created the first Power Pong table tennis robot in 2012, in partnership with a factory in his home country of Hungary. Since then, the robots have been improved and upgraded.

Today, there are three models available; Alpha, Delta, and the flagship Omega model (which replaces the popular Power Pong 5000).

These Hungarian “three-wheel” robots have really taken table tennis robots to the next level. They allow you to adjust the speed, placement, type of spin and even the amount of spin on each individual ball in the rallies you create!

The Power Pong Omega comes with a free tablet and is controlled via a Bluetooth connection to the Power Pong app (iOS or Android). That makes it super easy to customise and control your robot training.

This is a fantastic table tennis robot with so many advanced features. It gives you the greatest amount of variability in your practice.

  • Operate via the Power Pong “drag-and-drop” app
  • Build complex drills (including serves)
  • Just like playing against another player

#2: Newgy Robo-Pong 2055

Newgy Robo-Pong table tennis robots are very well-known and popular, especially in the United States. They were first released in 1988 and are the original table tennis robot!

The Newgy Robo-Pong 2055 is the best-selling Newgy robot and replaces the previous 2050 model. It’s a “smart robot” using digital technology and a ‘PC mode’ to enable you to connect the robot to your computer, create drills, and store them in the system.

You can adjust the ball speed and frequency via the digital control box but adjusting the spin requires a manual twisting of the robot head. This means that the Robo-Pong 2055 can only produce one type of spin at a time and cannot create complex training drills.

Newgy have a more expensive Bluetooth model (the Robo-Pong 3050XL) but it has lots of really bad customer reviews. If you’re looking for a table tennis robot that you can control via your smartphone, you should definitely get the Power Pong Omega instead!

  • Up to 170 balls per minute
  • Only one type of spin per drill
  • Great value at under $1,000

Rating: 3 out of 5.

#3: iPong Trainer Motion

The iPong Trainer Motion (released in 2018) replaces the popular iPong V300 table tennis robot.

iPong (owned by JOOLA) specialise in making great value table tennis robots that sit on top of the table. These kinds of robots need to be refilled manually once you have used up all of the balls.

All of the iPong robots are considerably cheaper than anything else you’ll find on the market. They’re ideally suited to infrequent home use, but they could also be used at a club or school.

You can’t really compare the iPong Trainer Motion to the Power Pong Omega or Robo-Pong 2055, but it does have a few cool features, such as; oscillation, memory, and a wireless remote.

If you’re looking for a basic table tennis robot, and don’t have much money to spend, then we can recommend giving the iPong Trainer Motion a try. It’s surely the best robot available for under $200!

  • 30 to 70 balls per minute
  • Topspin, backspin and no spin balls
  • A bargain at under $200!
